Summer fades away
Hot months of May and June brought plight
Digging in luscious mangoes and watermelons with delight
Holiday season comes to end
With monsoon season 'round the bend.
Golden sunshine gives way to cloudy greys
Bidding adieu to lazy summer days
Heat waves driven away by the gentle breeze
A rainy lease.
As season rolls to soak the earth
Moist soil and petrichor mingle in the air
Beauty of torquoise and clear skies lost in hush
The sound of summer flows out in the rainy rush.
Respite from blazing heat, blessing to yields
Seeds of hope sprouts in paddy fields
Leaving behind memories never to part
With the end of summer refrain, a new season starts.
