Mahashivratri is very auspicious day, marking the last snan (holy dip) in Triveni Sangam in Mahakumbh. The night of spiritual significance that falls on the 14th day of the waning moon in the month of Phalguna.

According to Hindu mythology, this day marks the marriage of Lord Shiva with Devi Parvati. Another story associated with Mahashivratri is Shiva's cosmic dance Tandav,

At midnight, Lord Shiva is said to have manifested from the formless to the form (from Brahman to Maheshwar).

The Ishan Samhita states that on Phalguna Krishna Chaturdashi night, Lord Shiva appeared in a linga form with brilliance equal to millions of suns.

Shiva symbolizes the cycle of creation, preservation, and destruction. It is believed that Lord Shiva descends to Earth on this day.

Shiva means "that which does not exist." Creation represents "that which exists." Therefore, the source of creation is known by the name of Shiva.

This night is the darkest night of the month. "Night" symbolizes ignorance. When sin, tyranny, and wrongdoing spread on Earth, devotees' souls become distressed and call upon God.

Mahashivratri is celebrated as the Festival of Awareness by Hindus all over the world. Devotees gather in Shiva's temple from morning, and the celebration lasts till the next morning. Devotees fast to please Lord Shiva.

It is the night of spiritual awakening. It is a time of self-discovery, self-introspection, and union with the Divine.
