The word Mahakumbh consists of two Sanskrit words: Maha (great) and Kumbh (pot). Its origins are rooted in Hindu mythology, the story of the Samudra Manthan (the churning of the ocean) by the gods and demons in search of amrit (nectar of immortality). According to legend, drops of this divine nectar fell at the four sacred locations, Prayagraj, Haridwar, Nashik, and Ujjain, sanctifying them. Bathing in the holy rivers during the KUMB is believed to purify the soul and grant liberation (moksha).

The Mahakumbh is held every 12 years in India, coinciding with the auspicious planetary positions, an event commonly referred to as the Kumbh. It is considered to bethe world's largest spiritual gathering bringing millions of devotees, saints, and seekers at the Triveni Sangam.

The year 2025 commences with the Mahakumbh from 13th January 2025..It has its own significance because this auspicious occasion comes after 144 years. It is also referred as (Maha Kumbh Mela) correlated with the revolution of Jupiter.

After completion of 12 Purn KUMBH,  MAHAKUMBH MELA is celebrated. Our generation is lucky to witness MAHAKUMBH after 144 years in the holy city of Prayagraj ( earlier known as Allahabad).

Pilgrims from India and around the world have gathered to take a holy dip in Triveni at Prayagraj, held at Prayagraj every 144 years.

It is timeless journey of faith, devotion, and connection with spiritual essence. Prayagraj is the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati. The precise timing of the festival is determined by the holy alignment of the Sun, Moon, and Jupiter, blending spirituality and astronomy together.

The 49-day celebration of Mahakumbh Mela is marked by ritual baths in the holy Triveni Sangam. The festival begins with Makarsankranti and will culminate on Mahashivratri ( 26th February)

The festival showcases spirituality, oneness in diversity of Sanatana dharma. It is more than a festival; it is a congregation of faith, tradition, humanity, and spirituality.
