COVID'19 - A LOCK DOWN

by - April 08, 2020

On 24th March, the Indian Government declared that the entire nation would be suspended as a preventive measure to tackle the coronavirus situation. The lockdown had been declared to last for twenty-one days. All sanctuaries of worship, offices, schools and institutions are closed to prevent the virus from propagating.  Even though curfew has been imposed in several states and cities essential services, pharmacies, food items and groceries are available for public use. Humans are the carrier of the virus this time, and due to the reckless globe-trotting of ignorant people, the pandemic has spread far and wide across the length of the earth. Low-income groups, daily wage workers are having a hard time. Due to the pandemic, they have no work and are starving and homeless. They have been ordered to leave construction sites, and are fleeing away to their native areas in fear. Public transport is suspended by the governments, so these people are walking to their homes travelling more than a hundred kilometres on foot. They believe, that they would die of hunger rather than coronavirus. Though the government, several NGOs and many generous people have come forward to feed the unprivileged section of society. Many celebrities and industrialists, business tycoons have come forth to the aid of the nation. Donating huge sums of money to the PM Cares Fund and state government funds in this time of need.

Doctors, nurses and health care personnel are working day and night to treat patients and pull the nation away from the doors of death.
Many hospitals, don't have enough protective gears and masks for protection of their staffs. Ventilators are in shortage. Hats off to these warriors who have risked their lives and forgotten their comfort. They have justified the statement that Doctors comes after God.

Today we are on the fifteenth day of the lockdown. Policemen are taking great care of law and order all over. The citizens are cooperating and trying to overcome the crisis realizing their responsibilities. Most of the professionals are working from home amidst the sounds of cartoon shows and the whistle of the pressure cooker. The dinning is table is serving as a worktable. Laptop bags are lying on couches and sofas. Cable and cords are dangling from everywhere giving a messy look to the house.

But still, it is a golden time with family at home. Lockdown has raised the consciousness of people making each and everyone understand the importance of family during hard times. Playgrounds are deserted no more do the merry laughter of children echo down the streets only the winds now sway the empty swings. The greatest positive impact of the lockdown has been on mother nature which is healing. The ozone layer is regenerating. The pollution levels are down. Birds are chirping, their territory is no more threatened. They have gotten their space. Animals are happy and are back to their habitats may be looking out for humans their greatest enemies.

Maintaining social distancing, people all over the world stand together with same prayer to God, to overcome this crisis.
